The Crime: Abuse of Georgia’s Children
We are shocked and heartbroken to share with you the criminal facts of our case:
- 4 children will die from child abuse and 18 will be permanently disabled every day in the U.S.
- In Georgia alone over 85,000 children are reported victims each year of child abuse.
- In Georgia, roughly 100 children will die this year from abuse!
- In 84% of these cases the abuser is a biological parent and 90% of the abuse occurs in the home.
The Mission: Prevent Child Abuse in Georgia
Preventing child abuse means strengthening the ability of parents and
communities to care for their children’s health and well-being.
Child abuse prevention is the work of everyone, every day.
The Operatives: PCA Georgia & NACE
Prevent Child Abuse Georgia (PCA) is the only statewide, nonprofit organization with the sole mission of preventing child abuse and neglect – before it starts. They accomplish their mission through community-based programs of family education and support, public awareness, advocacy, and training.
Last year Prevent Child Abuse Georgia made a difference in the lives of thousands of children and families.
PCA Georgia uses an array of prevention strategies to address the issue of child maltreatment, including:
- First Steps provides all parents of newborns with support, education and links to community resources, helping them feel knowledgeable about their parenting role and their baby’s needs.
- Healthy Families Georgia provides voluntary home visitation to first time parents identified as at-risk for poor parenting outcomes, providing intensive, long-term support for up to five years.
- 1-800-CHILDREN is a statewide toll-free Helpline that provides community-based prevention efforts with education, support and links to community resources to all Georgians.
- Public awareness and advocacy inform the public and policy makers about the problem of child maltreatment and effective prevention programs.
- Professional network of almost 50 chartered councils, statewide, to strengthen and support families throughout the state. PCA Georgia also holds the Southeast’s largest professional symposium dedicated to child abuse prevention training and education.
With your help, this year PCA Georgia can make a difference in the lives of many more who are at risk!
The National Association of Catering Executives (NACE) the oldest and largest catering association in North America, is part of an industry that benefits from the hosting of special events, many of them fundraisers, in excess of $200 billion in national annual revenues. In an effort to support the non-profit and fundraising community that for so long has supported us, the Atlanta NACE Chapter is hosting NACE Gives Back!
The members of our organization work hard to ensure the success of many fundraising efforts and are paid for their expertise to do so. Dedicated to promoting career success for its members and the professionalism of the industry, NACE offers educational programs, professional certification, networking opportunities, awards programs, community service projects and the industry’s most prestigious annual conference. In helping its members enhance their business and careers, NACE helps the industry reach its highest potential.
This is an annual fundraising effort hosted by the best of the best in party planning and year after year will be the most anticipated event of the Atlanta social season! Each year our event will be spectacular, top its predecessor and provide a fundraising funnel for a different local charity.
This year we are helping our youngest citizens who are most in need and often physical danger. We are honored to partner with Prevent Child Abuse Georgia who works directly with parents and families to offer them the support they need to create healthy homes for their children. All children deserve to live in an environment that allows them to develop their full potential. Child abuse prevention is everyone’s responsibility! |
